WESTMINSTER CENTRAL HALL: THURSDAY 9th JUNE 2011
On Thursday 9 June 2011 you can ensure that your MP hears the call for justice for people living in poverty. I’m going to be there meeting with my local MP’s representative (my MP is recovering from surgery at present) and talking with him about important International Development issues.
Lobbying isn’t just for experts – it’s for ordinary voters to let MPs know what we think. MPs tell us that face to face meetings are one of the most impactful ways of letting them know what’s important to us. By meeting with our MPs we can ask them to take action on our behalf, and positively influence policies affecting people in poor countries.
So why now? At a time of economic challenge, poor countries are feeling the pinch more than most – so it’s more important than ever for us to call for justice for poor people. That’s why Action Aid, CAFOD, Christian Aid, Oxfam, Save the Children and Tearfund are working together to ensure that politicians hear that their voters care about poverty. Come and join them and me at the TEA-TIME FOR CHANGE in London on Thursday 9th June 2011.
To register, find out more and contact your local MP then please visit the TEA-TIME FOR CHANGE website at www.teatimeforchange.org.uk . See you there !
